(Amazon, B&N, Kobobooks, etc.) Baron of Eure, Fortescue Cunning, hosted the most interesting and entertaining soirees. Miss Magnolia Quinn had attended at least three during the current season. She paused near the dais and scanned the room, looking for — well, she knew not what. Beside her, the musicians tuned their instruments, filling the air with discordant sound. Magnolia caressed her ear sockets as she considered the attendees. Officers just returned from the war filled the hall with their red coats. Young ladies twittered whalebone fans over their exposed décolletage and batted their lashes, winking invitations. Across the room, well out of earshot, Father huddled with his business partners amongst green, waxy-leaved plants. Other guests chatted amicably while lounging on plush velvet settees arranged squarely in the middle of the room. So much for the interesting soiree she’d hoped for. Bored already, Magnolia rolled her eyes and searched for a fern to hide behind. There was little reason to cavort with those in attendance, because she had no intentions of marrying. At nineteen her life spread before her like a blank canvas. The colors waited on a palate to be mixed. The brush– “What a scowl you wear. Thinking of your next world to conquer?”

She rolled her eyes and slid her hands from his. “Justin, that was naught more than a childhood game. There is no such thing as Justice and Miss Quinn.” “Oh, but I disagree.” He drew a calling card from his breast pocket. Scrolled words read: Receive justice from “Justice” and Miss Quinn. Her breath caught. “You must be joking?” “I never joke about my profession.” She leaned forward, her voice becoming shrill. “Profession? Justin, you’ve never worked a day in your life!” “I resent that accusation. Father made me muck stalls as punishment.” He crossed his arms over his chest again. She threw up her hands. “I concede. You’re obviously an experienced employee.” 10/21/2016 1 Comment Fast Fiction FridayWelcome back to Fast Fiction Friday! She had to. He’d kissed her without thought. He hadn’t meant to, and he didn’t mean it. Even though the relationship with Hesper had ended, he would always want a woman like her. Ostentatious. Bold. Beautiful. She was none of those things. He had acted hurt, but it was only because she’d investigated without him. He didn’t care about the kiss—he probably kissed girls all the time. 10/14/2016 8 Comments Fast Fiction FridayWelcome back to Fast Fiction Friday! My Excerpt The Case of the Secret Love, Buy Link “You what?” Justin’s heart thumped madly between his ears. Could this day get any worse? Hesper sat ramrod straight on the sofa. “I merely told my love that Miss Quinn’s status needed to diminish so society would understand your swift change in affections.” He ran his hand through his hair. So he’d been labeled a money-grubber and Magnolia’s reputation ruined, for the love of Liam. He was going to be ill. “I knew you would disapprove but I had no choice.” He loosened his grip on the sideboard and glared at Hesper. He couldn’t wait to hear her next excuse. “I sense your skepticism, but you must realize that the populace believes you and Magnolia are betrothed.” “What?” The words rocked him to his core. Others believed it yet Magnolia had never expressed interest beyond friendship—and now she never would. 10/7/2016 0 Comments Fast Fiction FridayWelcome back to Fast Fiction Friday! My Excerpt The Case of the Puppet Constable, Buy Link Magnolia bit her lip and forced a smile as pain radiated across the top of her slippered foot. “I’m sorry.” Kennaway had apologized at least a hundred times since their dance lesson began. Her mood was foul after the loss of sleep and her throbbing toes didn’t help. She drew in a shaky breath. “Focus, Sir Kennaway.” “I am trying, but your beauty robs me of breath.” Magnolia fought the desire to roll her eyes at the flattery. Sir Kenelm Kennaway was a handsome fellow with broad shoulders, dark hair, and clear hazel eyes, but he wasn’t Justin. Perhaps if she’d met him a week before she would be batting her lashes and holding her hand over her fluttering heart, but not now. With every mishap she compared him to Justin. Justin would never have mashed her slippers. He was an excellent dancer. “Perhaps your father made a mistake. I am unteachable.” It was on the tip of her tongue to agree, but instead she said, “Father never makes mistakes.” 9/30/2016 4 Comments Fast Fiction FridayWow, time flies! My Excerpt The Case of the Missing Cross, Buy Link “What a scowl you wear. Thinking of your next world to conquer?” Delight surged through her at the unexpected voice. “Justin Blakemoor, as I live and breathe.” Tall with blond wavy hair and brown eyes, Justin attracted the attention of half the females in the hall as he bowed at the waist before her. “At your service, madam.” She cocked a brow as he rose. “What happened to your face?” He laid a hand over his chest and dropped his jaw, as if gravely insulted. “My face is as handsome as ever.” “No, silly. The purple bruise beneath your eye. Did you flirt with the headmaster’s daughter again?” Magnolia enjoyed the flush that swathed her old friend’s cheeks. It made him even more attractive, and across the room, Hesper looked ready to swoon. “Miss Rotherham might wish for such a game, but I assure you, I did nothing of the sort.” More than just a coloring book, this inspirational activity book will help you relax, unwind, and enjoy some creative fun while hiding Godâs Word in your heart.
The 35 separate verses and passages are printed in colorable word art with decorative borders, blank on the back to make them easier to remove and frame or display, if desired. Each one is accompanied by two different activities or puzzles featuring the verse or key words from it.

6/14/2016 1 Comment The Gold by Krista WagnerThe Gold is a middle-grade fantasy about a bullied ten-year old girl who stumbles upon a talking pebble. In her latest novel, author Krista Wagner introduces us to Ten-year old Amanda who is constantly teased and tormented in school. Her home life is less than satisfactory where her widower father, often away on business trips, leaves her in the care of her indifferent teenaged sister. Worse, not a day goes by when Amanda doesn't miss her mom. To escape reality, Amanda creates fantasy stories, but when she discovers a talking golden pebble, her imagined world turns into a new-fangled reality. “What do you do with a secret that’s make-believe?” Buy Link: https://amzn.com/B01GT7BOYI Early Reader Review You did a great job at pulling me into the story! I have been to Idaho, and I loved your depiction! From the cottage, to the scenery. Early on, I loved the setting, it felt like I was there. Another significant part of the setting that captured my attention was the forest. It really had me wondering what was in it, and was this where her speck like friend was from the intro? I definitely felt like I knew the character, I felt like Amanda at times. Her wish to jump into fairytales at given points in time reminded me of myself. This is really going to resound and touch many people. About the author: Mother of three and Adjunct English Instructor Krista Wagner has been crafting short stories of dramatic events like murder and kidnapping since she was in high school, and has been writing in general since she was seven years old. Wagner received her B.A. in English from UMBC, her M.A. in English Composition with a Literature Concentration from CSUSB, and an M.F.A. in Creative Writing from National University. Her debut novel Intent, a spiritual dramatic thriller, was published by TouchPoint Press in 2014. Outside of her professional life, Wagner enjoys watching suspenseful films, reading the Bible, and spending time with her family. Her psychological thriller Rian Fieldwas released January 2016. I'm excited to announce that my young adult action and adventure novel, The Gladiator and the Guard, is now available for purchase! This is the second book in the Krillonian Chronicles, sequel to The Collar and the Cavvarach.
First Things First: a Little Information about Book 1:
Bensin, a teenage slave and martial artist, is desperate to see his little sister freed. But only victory in the Krillonian Empire's most prestigious tournament will allow him to secretly arrange for Ellie's escape. Dangerous people are closing in on her, however, and Bensin is running out of time. With his one hope fading quickly away, how can Bensin save Ellie from a life of slavery and abuse?
The story is set in a world very much like our own, with just a few major differences. One is that slavery is legal there. Slaves must wear metal collars that lock around their neck, making their enslaved status obvious to everyone. Any slave attempting to escape faces the dilemma of how and where to illegally get their collar removed (a crime punishable by enslavement for the remover). Another difference is the popularity of a martial art called cavvara shil. It is fought with a cavvarach (rhymes with "have a rack"), a weapon similar to a sword but with a steel hook protruding from partway down its top edge. Competitors can strike at each other with their feet as well as with the blades. You win in one of two ways: disarming your opponent (hooking or knocking their cavvarach out of their hands) or pinning their shoulders to the mat for five seconds.
