When I wrote this short story I was working on my Renaissance Hearts Series. I had had multiple rejections for the first book, There Your Heart Will Be Also, and I felt discouraged. Publishing a novel seemed like a pipe dream, and I thought about giving up.
I decided to give my writing career one last chance. I sat at the kitchen table with my husband and together we plotted out a simple story about a man and a woman who take a trip. On this trip they would become stuck somewhere outside their comfort zone and be forced to survive. I wrote the story in two weeks and entered it in the Celebrate the Season contest.
Imagine my surprise when I returned home from vacation to find that my entry had been selected for the anthology. Since that time I’ve published multiple novels in a variety of genres.
Keep in mind this novella that it has been revised and re-edited for your reading pleasure.

A couple of years ago my family and I attended a Voice of the Martyrs Conference in Jackson, TN. One of the speakers told the story of a young girl that was given a choice-- recant her faith or be tied to a pole until drowned by high tide.
Since that time I've wanted to tell a similar story. I came close to writing it a couple of years ago but it just wasn't right. Now after multiple published works I've gotten my chance.
