One of Forty is available for 99 cents for one week only! Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01NA6TXKT She settled on the edge of the bed.
What was she going to do about tomorrow? She didn’t have a ride to work. But she couldn’t let Jacie down. She couldn’t let herself down. If she had to she would walk. Her legs would go numb after the first couple of miles, but she would get there one way or the other. She lay down and pulled one quilt over her shoulders. Maybe if she just closed her eyes for a second then when she opened them something would come to mind. Her lids fluttered downward and she hid a yawn behind her hand. She hadn’t prayed in a really long time. Her stepmother had said God didn’t listen to sinners and that she was one of the worst ones. But maybe, just maybe. “God, could you send me help?”
